At the beginning of the 16th century, Lisbon was the largest city of the known world of the time. Today, half a million people live in the Portuguese capital astride the mouth of the River Tejo. Karl Lang has recorded with his panorama photographs the particular flair of this city, whose narrow alleyways, harbour, old houses and palaces are full or reminders of a bygone era.
